3 DAYS FROM MARRAKECH TO FES DESERT TRIPS
Day 1 : Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Skoura – Dades Gorges
As you meet our driver, he will drive you towards Dades Gorges, via Tizi-n-Tishka, a mountain pass in Morocco known as the gateway to Tafilalet Desert. Along the way, we will stop in the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage. As you are inside the Kasbah, you will be amazed by its oldness, beauty and quietness. You will be surprised also with the fact that the Kasbah is still inhabited by some Berber families despite its oldness. This originates to the extent to which these families stick to their heritage and their ancestral land. Also, the Kasbah is well-known for being the setting of many movies such as, Lawrence of Arabia, Tea in The SAHARA, Babel, The Mummy, Prince of Persia and others. Back to the tour, as we have lunch in a restaurant close to the Kasbah, we will head to the Hollywood of Morocco, Ouarzazate. Once we enjoy the main sites of the city, we will travel to the mountains of Dades Valley, passing through the Scoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses. As we arrive to the valley, we will take a walk in the valley to enjoy its beauty and also be part of nomad family by sharing a cup of tea and engaging in a cultural conversation to know about their ways of life and traditions. As we finish the tour in the valley we will drive you to the hotel to spend the night.
Day 2 : Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Erg Chebbi
After having breakfast we will leave Dades Gorges towardsTodra gorges, a series of limestone river canyons near the town of Tinghir. During the way, we will stop for few minutes so as to enjoy a panoramic view of Dades gorges. As we reach Todra Gorges, you will have enough time to explore on your own the place. By the evening, we will continue our trip towards Merzouga, the heart of the southeastern desert of Morocco. As we approach our destination, we will stop to have lunch in the town of Tinjdad. After that we will stop in Erfoud to visit some fossils shops so as –if you want- to buy some decorations and souvenirs. Then, we will continue to Merzouga where we will ride camels to explore the beauty of the desert and enjoy a marvelous sunset. Following this, you will spend the night in a camp where you will be served dinner and sleep in a traditional tent made of camel wool.
Day 3 :Camel treks – Erg Chebbi – Ziz Valley – Cedar Forest – Ifran – Fes
After enjoying a fabulous sunrise, we will start our tour back to Fes. During the way, our first stop will be the town of Rissani, which houses the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, third great-grandfather of Moulay Cherif, the founder of the Alaouite Dynasty of Morocco. In Rissani, you will have enough time to visit its traditional souk (market), which is the largest in the region, in order –if you want- to buy some crafts and souvenirs. Following this, we will continue to Fes passing through many Berber Villages such as Erfoud, Errachidia, Rich and Midelt or the ‘City of Apple’, where you will have lunch. As we continue our trip, you will have a break in the cedar forest of Azrou to enjoy looking, feeding and taking pictures with the monkeys. Then, we will head towards Fes passing through Ifrane or as most Moroccans prefer to name it “the Switzerland of Morocco”. In this beautiful city, you will have free time to enjoy its neat gardens and beautiful sites before heading towards our final destination, Fes. As we reach Fes, we will accompany you to check into your accommodation.
