3 Days from Fes to Marrakech Sahara Tours
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz valley – Erfoud – Merzouga Erg Chebbi
As you meet our driver, he will drive you across a number of beautiful Berber cities and villages before arriving to Merzouga. Ifrane, which in Tamazight, the regional Berber language, means caves, will be the first city that will mesmerize you due to its neat gardens and calmness. As we leave Ifrane, our second station will be the cedar forests of Azrou whose lovely monkeys add a touch to the aura of the place; being there excites one to document memorial pictures. Continuing our journey, a long line of mountains called the ‘Atlas Mountains’ will snatch your attention as we move from Ziada towards Medilt, the city of apple, where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will pass through a number of Berber villages like Rich, which is known of its peoples’ generosity and hospitality, Errachidia, the main city of the region, and Erfoud, which marks the Sahara Desert’s gateway, to reach Merzouga. As we get some rest in Merzouga, we will drive you to explore the beauty of the desert through visiting Erg Chebbi, large seas of dunes. But before, you will visit some fossils’ shops and experience being part of a Berber Nomad family. Following this, you will cross the desert on camels to enjoy a beautiful sunset before heading to a camp where you will have dinner and spend and unforgettable night.
Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades valley – Ouarzazate
Today’s trip will start by waking up early so as to not miss the beautiful sunrise and the incredible sight of the sunrays reflected on the shadowy dunes. Then, you will have enough time to take your breakfast and have a shower before travelling to Ouarzazate. On the way, your first stop will be the village of Rissani, which is located at the edge of Ziz Valley. It is a town in Errachidia housing the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, third great-grandfather of Moulay Cherif, founder of the Alaouite Dynasty of Morocco. Besides, Rissani remains a major commercial center in the region, with the largest souk in all Southern Morocco. As you enjoy the uniqueness of Rissani, we will continue our journey through the rocky Todra Gorges Mountains where you will have lunch before continuing our way to Tinghir, and then Kelaa Mgouna, the city of roses, through the road of the Thousand-Kasbah to reach Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco. As we reach Ouarzazate we will explore the main sites of the city like the Kasbah of Taourirt and cinema studio before accompanying you to check into your hotel.
Day 3: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas mountains – Marrakech
After having breakfast, we will drive towards the Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, a fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage. This well-known Kasbah in Morocco was built during the XXth century by Thami El-Glaoui who is one of the last Berber chieftains. Inside the walls of the Kasbah, which used to be one of El-Glaoui stops in his long travelling to Marrakesh, there are half a dozen of merchants’ households and other individual dwellings which will surely mesmerize you due to the unique way in which they were built. The Kasbah is also famous of being the setting for many films such as, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and many others. Back to your trip, as you enjoy the historical pinches of the Kasbah, we will leave to Marrakech via the high Atlas Mountains. Late in the evening, we will arrive to Marrakech and then we will accompany you to check into your hotel.
